“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates.
The great teacher inspires.” ― William Arthur Ward |
Brief Teaching Statement
|
Teaching is exciting. For me, it is more than disseminating information, it is igniting passion in students and feeding a longing for knowledge. I strive to create an intentional learning environment where students can critically analyze historical and contemporary issues. In it, I encourage diverse forms of knowledge acquisition that expand empathetic awareness so that students challenge the way they comprehend the world around them. This process is rewarding not just for my students, but for me as well. I love teaching and my efforts to create an engaged classroom have been recognized with teaching awards at both Michigan State University and Rutgers University.
